Commonwealth Games Opportunity

Hi All,

I apologize for the delay in getting this information and being MIA in the field hockey world this has not been the easiest spring for me, but it is that time of year again! The Commonwealth Games Tournament will be held June 18 to 19th weekend at Liberty University. I am coordinating teams for the Blue Ridge area - any player no matter the age and skill level can play in this tournament. This is a really fun tournament that is separate from clubs/high school teams and just brings everyone in the area together.

The tournament is an Olympic style tournament where the tops teams receive medals.

Blue Ridge Region: Anyone residing in the Albemarle, Amherst, Culpeper, Henry, Lee, Louisa, Lynchburg, Orange, Pittsylvania, Roanoke, and Charlottesville areas are welcome to join the Blue Ridge team!

U14, U16, and U19 - Three teams based on age!

Age Division: U14 - Player must be under 14 years old on December 31st; U16 - Player must be under 16 years old on December 31st; U19 - Player must be under 19 years old on December 31st. Current Seniors are welcome to play!

Location: Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA

When:

Saturday, June 18th - U16 on Astroturf and field turf fields - 11v11

Sunday, June 19th - U14 on Field Turf -7v7

Sunday, June 19th - U19 on Astroturf and Field Turf - 11v11

Cost is $60

I will close the rosters at probably 18 and U14 at 11 so this will be a first come, first serve register.

Hotels:

The Website as links to hotels if you think you will need it. Liberty is not too far, but we will probably play really early in the morning.

Practices:

At Charlottesville High School on the Turf Field located off Melbourne Lane and is not at the high school, but across the street at the gated Stadium. Address: 1400 Melbourne Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22901

June 4th - 10:00am to 12:00pm

June 7th at 5:00 to 7:00pm

June 9th at 5:00 to 7:00pm
June 11th at 10:00am to 12:00pm
June 14th at 5:00 to 7:00pm
June 16th at 5:00 to 7:00pm

I understand this is a busy time so practices are not mandatory. I also do not want to interfere with any clubs or other field hockey events you are participating in so encourage you all to attend those first. This is just pick-up and anyone even if you aren't doing the tournament can attend.

Coaches:

Any coaches that would like to coach you are more than welcome to! I would love the help, but just note it is volunteer.
